Baggage
Some people think
Of their past as baggage,
But you can think of yours as a treasure chest.
If we open it up and look inside
We will see a variety of things.
After you toss out the junk,
You may find an object of great value
That you are afraid of losing -
We'll put it in a little box, and bury it deep.
It feels good,
Knowing it is safely tucked away.
There may be some jewels
That if you give them a good polishing
Will really glisten and sparkle again
And will be a joy to admire.
But you may find
That if you look deep inside
That there is something
We need to put back in there.
Me - I know what I want,
But for now I will have to wait to see
If I'm tossed, put aside, buried or polished. ;)
